sŭbŏles (less correctly sŏbŏles), is, f. [sub- 2. oleo, olesco], a sprout, shoot, offshoot, twig, spray: suboles ab olescendo, id est crescendo, ut adulescentes quoque et adultae et indoles dicitur, Fest. p. 309 Müll.
