- I. name of a Roman gens. So, M. Lollius Palicanus, governor of Galatia and afterwards of Gaul, a favorite of Augustus, famous for his rapacity and a defeat which he suffered in Germany, Cic. Verr. 2, 2, 41, § 100; Vell. 2, 97; Tac. A. 3, 48; Suet. Tib. 13; to him is addressed Hor. C. 4, 9.
