at-tāmĭno (adt-), āre, v. a. [ad-tamino, contr. instead of tagmino, from tago, tango; cf. contamino], to touch; and, in a bad sense, to attack, rob (only post-class. and rare), Capitol. Gord. 27.
Hence, also, to dishonor, contaminate, defile: virginem, Just. 21, 3: aliquem sacramentis Judaicis, Cod. Th. 3, 1, 5.
