Andrŏmĕda, ae, and -ē, ēs, f., = Ἀνδρομέδη, a daughter of the Ethiopian king Cepheus and Cassiope. On account of the arrogance of her mother she was bound to a rock by the command of the oracle of Jupiter Ammon, in order that she might be destroyed by a sea-monster; but Perseus rescued and married her.
