  1. I. A little leaf or slip of parchment, etc.; a ticket, label, on wine-bottles, etc.: amphorae vitreae, quarum in cervicibus pittacia erant affixa cum hoc titulo: Falernum Opimianum Annorum Centum, Petr. 34; so id. 56; Lampr. Alex. Sev. 21 fin.; Cod. Th. 7, 4, 11.
