Phĭloctēta or Phĭloctētes, ae (corrupted form Philotes, ētis, Inscr. Grut. 42, 7), m., = Φιλοκτήτης, son of Pœas of Thessaly, celebrated as an archer, a companion of Hercules, who at his death gave him the poisoned arrows without which Troy could not be taken.
