    1. A. A region, quarter, tract (mostly poet.; v. Madv. ad Cic. Fin. 2, 4, 12, where de plagis omnibus is the reading of the best MSS., but pagis of the edd.; but cf. Mütz. ad Curt. p. 516 sq.; and Krebs, Antibarb. p. 869; syn.: regio, tractus, terra): aetheria, the ethereal regions, the air, Verg. A. 1, 394: caeli scrutantur plagas, Poët. ap. Cic.
