1. Ărī̆a, ae, f., = Ἀρεία acc. to Arrian, or Ἀρία acc. to Strabo and Ptolem. (cf. Crusius, Lex. of Proper Names), a Persian province between Hyrcania, Gedrosia, and India, now the western part of Chorasan; hence, with the appel. Ariana, q. v., Manil 4, 802; Plin. 6, 23, 25, § 93.
