mulcĕo, si, sum (rarely mulctum), 2, v. a. [Sanscr. root marc, take hold of; Gr. μάρπτω, μάρπτις; cf. mulco], to stroke; to touch or move lightly (syn. palpo; poet. and in post-Aug. prose).
