Callisthĕnes, is, m., = Καλλισθένης, a philosopher of Olynthus, sister’s son and pupil of Aristotle, and a youthful friend of Alexander the Great; finally put to death by him for his freedom of speech, Curt. 8, 5, 13 sqq.; 8, 6, 25; 8, 8, 21; Cic.
